High Divorce Rates in Gibraltar | City Pulse on Men in Need Image

Author: Charles Gomez & Co

Jayne Wink, Founder and Chairperson of the Gibraltar Men in Need Chairty, was interviewed on GBC City Pulse on the 5th of January 2026 on the increasing need to help men in Gibraltar experiencing hardship and how her charity aims to assist.

When Ms Wink was asked for the main reasons for homelessness among men in Gibraltar, among issues such as unemployment and mental illness, increasing divorce rates were highlighted up because, statistically, mothers tend to stay with the children and the home.

This intermixed with child support needs are in many cases leaving men without a place to go or needing to move back in with their parents.

During the discussion, Ms Wink spoke about the growing demand for support for men experiencing hardship in Gibraltar and referenced Charles Gomez & Company’s barrister Nicholas Gomez for his pro bono work with the Men in Need charity.
