Practice Manager
Gema Ruiz, BA, joined the Charles Gomez & Co team in 2017 as Practice Manager and manages the firm’s daily practice as well as those of the head of chambers, HR and our teams in Gibraltar.
Gema speaks Spanish, English and French and is liaison for the firm’s international and cross-frontier work, acting as translator and interpreter where necessary.
Gema is the firm’s MLRO assistant and Compliance Officer and manages the general running of the office.
Education & Career
Bachelor’s Degree in Translation & Interpretation English – Spanish (University of Malaga)
At university, Gema specialized in legal translation and legal English, attending several courses on legal English, legal translation English to Spanish as well as the English and Spanish legal systems hosted by the Bar Council of Malaga and the University of Malaga.
Gema also graduated in Legal Translation (English to Spanish) at the University of Alicante.
Post-graduation, Gema took on several vocational training courses and qualified as a Secretary and PA. She also specialised in International Trade.
Gema has worked extensively as a Translator and Interpreter in the legal sector as well as other sectors such as construction and tourism.
She also has extensive experience as a Secretary / PA to CEOs both in the legal and corporate sectors.
Gema has also spent part of her career as a head teamer and Office Manager at a Language Academy, where she taught English, French and Spanish.
