Stamp Duty on conveyances (including underleases and assignments) is payable at the rate of 1.26% for transactions of from £160,000 to £250,000; 1.6% from £250,000 to £350,000 and 2.5% above £250,000. Mortgages incur a stamp duty of 0.13%of the amount borrowed. In addition there are official registration charges of £72 per deed.”
